Last updated: 27 October 2026, IST. This table includes Tests completed through 22 October.
South Africa’s latest win has tightened the final race. Australia still lead the WTC points table 2027. New Zealand are second. South Africa are now closer in third. 1 3
Only the top two teams reach the final. The race is based on points percentage, or PCT. PCT shows the share of points a team has won. 9

The points shown already include each team’s points cut. Do not take those points off again. These cuts were for slow over rates. This means teams bowled too few overs in time. 1 2 9
Source note: Cricbuzz and ESPN match records agree on these totals. The fetched ICC table was one Test behind. It had not added South Africa’s second-Test win. This page includes that completed result. It is not an auto-updating live table. 1 2 3 9
Latest Result: South Africa Beat Australia
South Africa won the second Test in Gqeberha. They won by an innings and 31 runs. The match ended on 22 October 2026. 3
The three-Test series is now level at 1-1. South Africa gained 12 points from the win. Their PCT rose from 60.00% to 66.67%. Australia’s PCT fell from 81.82% to 75.00%. 3
How the WTC Points System Works
Each Test has 12 points on offer. Teams do not all play the same number of Tests. That is why PCT decides their place. 9
| Result | Points for each team |
|---|---|
| Win | 12 for the winner |
| Tie | 6 each |
| Draw | 4 each |
| Loss | 0 for the loser |
A tie and a draw are not the same. A tie means both sides end with equal scores. A draw means no side wins before time runs out.
PCT = points earned ÷ (Tests played × 12) × 100
Use the points left after any points cuts. Australia have 108 points from 12 Tests. That is 108 out of 144 possible points. Their PCT is 75.00%.
There is no fixed PCT needed for the final. A team must finish above all but one rival. Wins help most because draws give just four points.
Remaining WTC Tests for Each Team
These counts use the published WTC schedule. A Test does not count until it is complete. The South Africa–Australia decider is still in the list. 4 5

WTC Final Scenarios for All Nine Teams
A scenario is one possible set of future results. The numbers below are calculations, not match predictions. They use the points and fixtures shown above.
All listed Tests must go ahead for this maths. The figures also assume no new points cuts. A schedule change or penalty would change the sums.
Australia: Best Placed in the Table
Australia have ten Tests left across three series. Their four home Tests against New Zealand matter a lot. Wins there would also take points from a close rival. 4
Ten wins would give Australia a final PCT of 86.36%. Seven wins plus one draw and two losses give 74.24%. Five wins plus three draws and two losses give 68.18%.
Australia lead now but have not booked a final place. Their away series in India can still change the race.
New Zealand: Second Place With Ten Tests Left
New Zealand host India for two Tests in November. They then play four Tests away in Australia. Later come Sri Lanka at home and Pakistan away. 4 5 7
Ten wins would give New Zealand a PCT of 89.58%. Eight wins plus one draw and one loss give 79.17%. Six wins plus two draws and two losses give 68.75%.
Their series against Australia pits the current top two sides together. Each win would boost one side and hurt the other.
South Africa: Latest Win Keeps the Race Tight
South Africa have eight Tests left. Their home series include Australia and Bangladesh. They also host England before travelling to Sri Lanka. 4 5
Eight wins would give South Africa a PCT of 85.71%. Six wins plus one draw and one loss give 73.81%. Four wins plus two draws and two losses give 61.90%.
They are third now but can still pass the leaders. Their latest win shows why this race can change fast.
Bangladesh: Six Tests Can Change Their Finish
Bangladesh next host West Indies for two Tests. They then play South Africa away. Two home Tests against England follow in February. 4 5 6
Six wins would give Bangladesh a PCT of 77.78%. Four wins plus one draw and one loss give 63.89%. Two wins plus two draws and two losses give 50.00%.
Their South Africa series matters for both teams. Bangladesh can add points while slowing a side above them.
India: Seven Wins Would Take Them to 70.37%
India have two Tests away in New Zealand. They then host Australia for five Tests. Both rivals are ahead of India in the table. 4 5
Seven wins would give India 152 points and 70.37% PCT. Six wins and one draw give 66.67%. Six wins and one loss give 64.81%.
Even seven wins do not promise India a final place. India still need fewer than two teams to finish higher. Results in other series will decide that.
England: A Low Ceiling After Points Cuts
England have five Tests left, all away. Three are in South Africa. Two are in Bangladesh. Their current points include a 14-point cut. 2 4
Five wins would give England a PCT of 53.17%. Three wins plus one draw and one loss give 45.24%. Two wins plus two draws and one loss give 42.06%.
Their best finish is much lower than the leaders’ ceilings. A final place would need many rival results to help.
Sri Lanka: Six Wins Would Give 66.67%
Sri Lanka have away series in Pakistan and New Zealand. They then host South Africa. Each series has two Tests. 4 5
Six wins would give Sri Lanka a PCT of 66.67%. Four wins plus one draw and one loss give 52.78%. Two wins plus two draws and two losses give 38.89%.
They need a strong finish to climb from seventh. They also need teams above them to drop points.
West Indies: Only Two Tests Left
West Indies finish their league Tests in Bangladesh. The first starts in Mirpur on 28 October. The second starts in Sylhet on 5 November. 6
Two wins would give West Indies a PCT of 32.14%. One win and one draw give 27.38%. One draw and one loss give 20.24%.
There is no top-two route under this points model. That assumes no new points cuts or fixture changes. The maths for this is explained below.
Pakistan: Four Tests Left After Heavy Points Cuts
Pakistan host Sri Lanka for two Tests in November. They also host New Zealand for two in March. Their points total is five after a 19-point cut. 2 5 7
Four wins would give Pakistan 53 points and 33.97% PCT. Two wins plus one draw and one loss give 21.15%. One win plus one draw and two losses give 13.46%.
There is no top-two route under this points model. Winning all four cannot change that without changes elsewhere.
Why This Model Rules Out West Indies and Pakistan
Australia would finish on at least 40.91% in this model. That holds even if they lose all ten remaining Tests. Both Pakistan and West Indies have lower maximum figures.
India and New Zealand still play two Tests together. Those matches must give points to one or both sides. At least one would finish on 35.19% or more. This holds even if both lose every other remaining Test.
That leaves two teams above Pakistan and West Indies. This is a calculation from the current schedule. It is not an ICC notice of elimination. New points cuts or changed fixtures could alter it.
WTC Final 2027: Date and Venue
The final will be played at The Oval in London. The confirmed dates are 9 to 13 June 2027. The ICC announced these details on 23 July 2026. 8
The top two sides in the final standings will play. First place alone does not win the trophy. The final match decides the champion. 9
