Mumbai Indians still lead their IPL rivalry with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but the gap has narrowed. Bengaluru won both meetings in 2026, including a last-ball finish in Raipur, to move within two wins of Mumbai in the all-time series. The record now stands at 19–17 after 36 IPL fixtures through 10 May 2026.
The two franchises have also met outside the IPL, which makes the competition boundary important here. This page counts only men’s IPL meetings, from the early seasons through the latest completed 2026 contest. It separates a tied regulation game decided by a Super Over from an unresolved tie, and it does not include any unplayed 2027 fixture.
MI vs RCB IPL head-to-head record
Mumbai have 19 wins and Bengaluru 17 from 36 IPL matches. RCB won the three most recent meetings; Mumbai won the preceding two. That shorter sequence is useful context, but it does not erase MI’s longer-term lead.
| Meetings | MI wins | RCB wins | Unresolved ties | No results |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 36 | 19 | 17 | 0 | 0 |
Men’s IPL through 10 May 2026; the split bar compares the 36 matches with a winner.
One match needs a closer explanation. On 28 September 2020 in Dubai, RCB made 201/3 and MI replied with 201/5, leaving the regulation innings level. Bengaluru won the one-over eliminator and received the match points. It is counted once as an RCB victory in this winner-assigned record, not again as an unresolved tie. A broader club T20 list also includes two Champions League games played in 2010 and 2011; those fixtures are outside this IPL total.
Most runs in MI vs RCB IPL matches
Virat Kohli leads the IPL-only batting list with 972 runs against Mumbai. AB de Villiers is next with 693, followed by Rohit Sharma on 670. Kieron Pollard‘s 551 and Suryakumar Yadav‘s 473 complete the five leading totals. They are runs scored in IPL meetings between these two clubs, not each player’s career IPL tally.
The final 2026 match matters to the cutoff. A dated table published before the Raipur game listed Rohit on 648; his 22 in Mumbai’s 166/7 moves him to 670. Kohli and Suryakumar were both dismissed without scoring in that match, while de Villiers and Pollard were not participants, leaving their matchup totals unchanged. The players’ old franchise affiliations are historical, not a claim about the next IPL squad.
Do not combine these numbers with all-T20 batting tables: those can also count MI–RCB Champions League innings. The distinction is especially visible in Kohli’s total. This list deliberately stays within IPL scorecards, using the same scope as the record above.

Last five completed MI vs RCB IPL matches
Raipur supplied the latest and narrowest result in the sequence. Mumbai reached 166/7, with Tilak Varma making 57. Bengaluru needed the final delivery to reach 167/8 and win by two wickets. Krunal Pandya made 73 for RCB, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar took four wickets for 23 runs as Mumbai batted.
The other 2026 meeting was much higher scoring. At Wankhede on 12 April, Phil Salt‘s 78 and Rajat Patidar‘s 53 helped RCB make 240/4. MI answered with 222/5, including Sherfane Rutherford‘s unbeaten 71, and lost by 18 runs. The previous April in Mumbai, Bengaluru had set 221/5; Virat Kohli contributed 67 and Patidar 64. MI finished at 209/9, twelve short, despite Tilak’s 56.
Mumbai won each of the next two earlier results shown below. In April 2024, Jasprit Bumrah took 5/21 as RCB made 196/8. Ishan Kishan scored 69 and Suryakumar 52 in a seven-wicket chase completed in 15.3 overs. In May 2023, RCB’s 199/6 was overtaken at 200/4 with 21 balls remaining; Suryakumar’s 83 off 35 balls was central to that six-wicket win.
