Virat Kohli has scored the most centuries in IPL history. He has 9 IPL hundreds through the completed 2026 season. Jos Buttler is second with 7, while Chris Gayle and KL Rahul share third place with 6 each.

What the IPL Centuries Record Means
A century is an innings of at least 100 runs. This record counts each player’s IPL hundreds across seasons, rather than the number of runs scored or the number of matches played. The ranking is based on the career 100s column in the broad IPL record table.
Kohli’s 9 hundreds put him two clear of Buttler. Gayle and Rahul are level on 6. Gill and Samson are next with 5 each, while Watson and Warner share 7th place with 4. Sudharsan, de Kock and de Villiers each have 3 and therefore share 9th.
Kohli Leads the All-Time List
Kohli’s record includes 9 hundreds in 275 innings. His highest IPL score in the same record table is 113 not out. He is the only player in this list with nine centuries, and he remains the leader after the completed 2026 season.
Buttler’s seven hundreds came in 136 innings. Gayle and Rahul have six apiece, but their surrounding career records differ: Rahul has 5,815 runs in the table, while Gayle has 4,965. A century ranking answers one question only; it does not rank total runs, average or strike rate.
Useful Patterns in the List
The list spans different careers. Watson’s IPL hundreds came between 2008 and 2020, while Gill, Sudharsan and other active players have records extending into 2026. This is why a current player can move up the table even without matching a retired batter’s total career length.
The positions are also not a count of “top ten players.” They are century totals. Ties must remain visible: treating a shared total as a hidden tie-break would misstate the record.
What This IPL Century List Includes
Each IPL innings of at least 100 counts as one hundred. The figures include completed IPL matches through 31 May 2026. Centuries from other T20 leagues and international cricket are excluded.
