According to a writer, LSG would probably release Rishabh Pant prior to the upcoming IPL since they believe the ₹27 crore cost is excessive. Pant, however, wrote it off as false information.

After a lackluster season this year, India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant got into a violent social media argument with a journalist who asserted that the left-handed batter would be discharged by the Lucknow Super Giants prior to the upcoming IPL. Hours before LSG’s group-stage game against the Gujarat Titans at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, a verbal sparring match broke out on social media.

Pant, the most expensive player in the IPL, had one of his poorest seasons this year after being purchased by LSG for an incredible ₹27 crore in the mega auction last year. With a meager average of 12 and a strike rate of precisely 100, Pant managed to score just 135 runs in 12 games this season. With just 10 points, LSG has little chance of qualifying for the playoffs, even though they still have two games left.

According to journalist Vaibhav Bhola, LSG is probably going to release before the upcoming season since they believe the ₹27 crore charge is too high.

Before the 2026 Indian Premier League, LSG is most likely to release Rishabh Pant. He posted on X, “LSG Management Thinks 27 Crore Is Too Much.”

Pant responded forcefully, rejecting the assertion. Bhola’s assertion was deemed “fake news” by the LSG captain, who also counseled him to exercise greater responsibility.

“I know that fake news helps content gain greater popularity, but let’s not base everything on it. Rather than creating fake news with an agenda, a little common sense and reliable news will be more beneficial. Thank you, and enjoy your day. He wrote, “Let’s be responsible and sensible about what we post on social media.”

But Bhola maintained his position. Hello, Rishabh You don’t call shots in LSG, I believe. LSG management will decide whether or not you stay captain. Give them time to clear the air. “Thank you, and enjoy your final two IPL 2025 matches as captain,” he said.

The Rishabh Pant-led team has had a season marred by injuries and inconsistency, and they are now on a four-game losing run.

For runs, LSG has mainly relied on their foreign recruits, Nicholas Pooran, Aiden Markram, and Mitchell Marsh.

Their issues have been made worse by Pant’s terrible season and the middle order’s dearth of significant contributions.

Their effort was further ruined by injuries to important bowlers.

Mohsin Khan, a left-arm bowler, was out for the whole season, and Mayank Yadav, an express quick who was kept with great expectations, was sidelined for the majority of it.

Due to fitness issues with Avesh Khan and Akash Deep, LSG’s bowling attack was severely lacking. Pant admitted that the squad has suffered greatly as a result of these absences.
