Team history
Gujarat Giants entered the Women's Premier League in its first year. They faced Mumbai Indians in the league's opening match in March 2023, a fixture Mumbai won. The inaugural campaign established the franchise in the competition but did not yield a title. Source
The team reached the Eliminator in 2025, where Mumbai Indians ended its title challenge with a 47-run win. That playoff appearance was a step forward, although the Giants still had no place in the final that year. Source
The Giants assembled a revised squad at the WPL 2026 mega auction, with the franchise naming returning players and new additions in a dated December 2025 report. Because that report does not identify an exhaustive final roster, the names in the 2026 reference below are deliberately labelled partial. Source
Gujarat reached the 2026 Eliminator, where Delhi Capitals beat them by seven wickets on the way to another final. The 2026 WPL title ultimately went to Bengaluru, leaving the Giants without a WPL championship till 2026. Source
Players and squad status
Official WPL retention deadline: 28 September 2026. Players shown under retained and released come from the league's dated announcement and its player-list PDFs. Remaining auction places mean these retained names are not the final 2027 squad. Do not treat the 2026 reference list as a current 2027 roster.
